This acrylic painting on canvas represents the Tamarissière beach in Vias in the Hérault. This beach, located near Cap d’Agde and Béziers, has remained away from urbanization. What interested me in this painting is to render the atmosphere and the particular light that is associated with the Tramontana, this northern wind that sweeps the region. A bit like the Mistral, this often violent wind “cleans” the sky and disperses the clouds. The contrasts are strong and the air clear, which changes the relationship to space.
In the foreground, the ganivelles and the marram grass undulate on the dunes. The sun reflects in the bay. Further on, the Clape massif and the Corbières loom above the horizon.
